So pleased we chose this amazing house for a family get together to celebrate a 70th birthday. Full credit to Ian and Jackie for this beautiful conversion, furnished to a luxurious standard with every need catered for large groups. Our welcome basket with homemade lemon drizzle cake, bread, oils, jams, sloe gin and more was much appreciated, the cake disappeared quickly! We would highly recommend to anyone looking for something special to have a break with loved ones, it is a hidden gem. The village is delightful with a super pub serving good food and cheer, we felt we were locals before we left as we were made so welcome, even the sheep wandering around the village was unique.

We have come on holiday to this part of N. Yorkshire for 50 years, and love a chance to return and revisit favourite places. Now that our family has grown and multiplied, we need somewhere that can accommodate 8 adults and 5 children so we were delighted in 2022 to discover the Long Barn with its spacious rooms spread over its renovated, solidly built farm buildings, and its enormous Games Room alongside.

This summer we decided to return and our family (ages 86 to 8) had another fabulous week. Yet again, we were amazed by the thoughtfulness whereby Ian and Jackie provide all that guests might need and in excess. There is such a wonderful generosity in how they welcome their guests and how they ensure ample supplies of absolutely everything. We loved our week at the Long Barn and the days flew past far too quickly.

We stayed to celebrate three significant family birthdays and enjoyed a truly wonderful time. The welcome from Ian & Jackie was tremendous and they were so helpful with recommendations for sourcing what we needed. Birthday Cakes, Wine and importantly a great private chef, Dan Graham, who delivered a memorable evening meal. The accommodation was superbly appointed and so well equipped, it is the best house we have ever rented. We are returning later this year with a group of friends and looking forward to it.

It’s said only Yorkshire people call Yorkshire ‘god’s own country, but take it from me, a Geordie who has lived in several UK counties they are not lying. Throw in the Long Barn as a holiday destination and it can’t be beaten. Ten adults & two children were in our party & all of us were blown away by the luxury of the accommodation, the attention to detail & the hosts, the photo’s on the website did not lie. It’s often the little things that make a holiday stand out like the superb welcome basket of home made goodies & Ian taking the children to collect eggs. Even the weather was good to us, this was truly a memorable holiday.

Our grandparents lived nearby in the 1950s and the Long Barn was perfect for our occasional walking holiday of several cousins. The accommodation and spacious outdoor area and general attention to detail couldn’t be faulted
