Why Town End Farm?

You’ll relax as soon as you arrive at this grade 2 listed 18th century barn. The original stone walls and beams give character and create a relaxing, peaceful retreat which is calm and airy. Throughout you’ll find a feel of real comfort with luxurious quality touches.

The generous welcome basket is packed with delicious homemade treats, locally sourced goodies and organic eggs. Just ask if you’d like to join us in collecting the eggs one morning; our hens live a field away from the Long Barn.

Light the Danish wood burner, kick back and relax in the stylish and cosy living room with comfy Harris Tweed and leather sofas with soft furnishings in quality fabrics from Mulberry and Roma.

The Long Barn may be 18th century, but the technology throughout is bang up to date. High speed broad band, Wifi throughout, Sonos sound system with Spotify, 4K TV (Sky Sports and Movies, Netflix), and 2 Sony PS4 systems are just some of the tech you’ll find.

After a days walking, stash all your hiking kit in the boot/drying room (where you will also find the washing machine and dryer).

Each of the seven generous en suite bedrooms all have their own individual character in keeping with the barn, restful and contemporary. There is constant hot water and heating supplied from the site’s biomass boiler.

Two of the en suite bedrooms are on the ground floor if you don’t fancy the stairs at the end of the day. We can tailor the bedrooms to your needs; Bedrooms 1, 4, and 5 are super kings which can be split into twins. All other bedrooms have fixed king size beds.

Courtyard

Relax in the tranquil south facing courtyard garden, a perfect spot to gather on a sunny day. Cook an alfresco meal on the massive Weber gas BBQ and gather around the huge oak table. Pick fresh herbs from the garden to compliment your meal. Look out for garden wildlife; the courtyard is planted with many species which attract bees and butterflies, which in turn attract a real variety of birds.

On clear moonless nights, the stars can be truly spectacular; you may well see the Milky Way.

There is plenty of space to park in the courtyard, and the cattle grid means you don’t have to jump in and out of the car to shut the gate (and also protects the garden from marauding sheep).

Town End Farm welcomes dogs
Dogs are very welcome (by arrangement), they will need to bring their own beds and bedding. All we ask is they are not allowed on the house furniture or beds and should not be left home alone. Our village pub is dog friendly. We provide a doggy welcome hamper including water bowls, dog towels, poo bags and doggy treats.

Town End Farm

In 2012 we had a mid-life crisis (although one of Ian’s colleagues told us we had already passed that marker). We have always been customer focused in our careers and had dreamed about taking control of our lives and running our own business. So, we took the plunge and decided to sell our house and set up a self-catering business for large groups of friends and family to meet up in style and comfort. We have put our hearts and souls into the restoration of this characterful luxurious self catering barn and tried to think of every detail you need to make your stay truly memorable. There is space to spread out in & relax, space to come together in. 7 generous en suite double bedrooms mean no one has the short straw. The Long Barn is the perfect place to escape to with family and friends for a special celebration in the beautiful North York Moors National Park.

What Easter traditions do you have?

Sadly we usually miss the Easter Monday village tea as we’re busy doing a changeover. So Ian’s never been able to enter his hat in the bonnet competition…

Taking in a daffodil walk, enjoying some chocolate eggs and a roast chicken dinner are usually on our list!
