The Village
There is so much that makes Appleton le Moors a truly unique place. We think our village is really special; you’ll be warmly welcomed into our community and treated like a local. We’ve blogged about some of the things we love most about Appleton from village life to our fabulous village pub The Moors Inn. If history is your thing we can organise a village history tour for you.
Things To Do
What makes the North York Moors so wonderful is the variety of places to go and things to do right on the doorstep.
Within easy striking range are well know attractions like Castle Howard and Rievaulx Abbey and the historic city of York.
The coastline has everything from little fishing villages like Staithes and Robin Hoods bay, the sweeping sands at Runswick bay and Sandsend, traditional seaside resorts like Whitby, Scarborough and Filey to the towering cliffs of Bempton and Flamborough Head.
As well as all the walks nearby there are also plenty of places to cycle on quiet roads or on laid out trails at Dalby Forest and Sutton Bank. If you haven’t brought your bike you can hire one locally, including e-bikes. For the thrill seekers Flamingo land is a just a few miles away.
“This is the most friendly village ever, and we all wish we could stay longer.”
