Just returned home from a fabulous weekend in the Long Barn. 11 girlfriends and myself celebrated 70th birthdays. As a group we've been having weekends like this for many years, however we all agreed this was the best house we've stayed in. The attention to detail is second to non, from the fabulous homemade goodies in the welcome pack to the birthday banners which were hung up ready for us. The whole house was immaculate, and so well equipped. There are 7 ensuite bedrooms, all with high quality furnishings and linens. There is a fabulous outside space for warmer months alongside ample parking. There's a great local pub a couple of minutes walk away, a perfect addition to a gorgeous village. We stayed to celebrate three family birthdays and enjoyed a fantastic time. The Long Barn is extremely comfortable and well equipped. The hosts are very accommodating with a generous welcome pack and were extremely helpful in sourcing what we required, an excellent private chef, birthday cakes, decorations etc. It is certainly the best accommodation we have rented and look forward to staying there again.

Just had the most wonderful long weekend at The Long Barn, and what a truly incredible venue it is.
From the road, a seemingly understated and discreet property, but as soon as you pull over the cattle grid (yes, there are sheep just wandering around the village, it's adorable) you're greeted by this beautifully finished barn conversion.
As we arrived, a basket full of homemade produce awaited us on the kitchen island (I had the honor of witnessing Ian's bread finish a lowly second place in the village produce show, a disgrace that it wasn't first if you ask me).
Every single detail in the house had been well thought out, looked after, and finished to the highest possible standard. The rooms were immaculate, the amenities were absolutely fantastic, and even the tiniest things like lovely toiletries and toilet roll that isn't sandpaper!
Plenty to keep both adults and kids occupied, with games consoles, ping pong & fussball tables, projectors and TVs coming out of your eyes, and of course ample refrigeration space for alcohol...
And finally, the hosts. Ian and Jackie were just the most wonderful hosts, and it was a joy to spend some time with them this weekend. They showed us the local pub, gave us advice on things to do / places to see, and even dropped off MORE homemade goods before we left (I won't spoil the surprise).
Thank you so much, an absolutely fantastic weekend, made so much better by being in such a lovely place. Can't fault it, perfection.

We had a wonderful week in the Long Barn as a family this summer. The accommodation has everything you could possibly think of needing and all of the en-suite bedrooms were lovely. We all loved the games room and outdoor seating too, super extra space for some fun.
Couldn't recommend it more, we'll definitely be back and will be recommending to others. Ian and Jackie were super helpful when we needed a couple of bits and the extra touches they put in make it exceptional.

This venue was so good last year that we booked again for a family get together and a 70th birthday for July/August 2025.
I can only reiterate how amazing this place is for any large group gathering. There is nothing you need take from home only the clothes you'll need to wear and any specific games you may want to play. The rooms are beautiful and cosy with top quality bedding and bathrobes. The lounges is warm and welcoming for gathering together in the evenings after long days out sightseeing, beaching or walking. The kitchen has everything you'll need to make whatever takes your fancy and weather permitting there is a gas BBQ for alfresco eating.
You arrive to be greeted by Ian or Ian and Jackie who sort out the key code and answer any questions. Once inside you realise that there is a hamper with homemade granola, homemade bread, homemade jam, sloe gin and olive oil plus a tin containing homemade lemon drizzle cake and a dozen free range eggs from Ian and Jackie's hens.
Day one we arrived at about 3.15pm, the children spent all their time outside in the garden playing whilst the adults made tea and sipped drinks.
We had a fantastic BBQ on our second evening where we all ate together outside on the long tables. This was after a wonderful day at Sandsend beach which is well worth a visit.
On day three after a trip to the community park at Pickerkng we had an alfresco pick and mix tea followed by a party show by the children in the games room.
Day four after crabing off Staithes harbour we went to the local pub for tea. The food was amazing but pre book weeks before you go.
The children spent hours in the garden playing and the adults spent hours in the garden just relaxing and watching the bees, hoverflies and butterflies. It was just a little slice of heaven and much needed by members of the family.
Friday was leaving day, we were given little bags of brownies to take home with a message thanking us for staying. Such a lovely personal touch and this is what makes Longbarn such a special place to visit.

Our grandparents lived nearby in the 1950s and the Long Barn was perfect for our occasional walking holiday of several cousins. The accommodation and spacious outdoor area and general attention to detail couldn't be faulted.

Fabulous venue for a birthday celebration. This is the 3rd time our family have stayed here and will not be the last. The games room was a big success. The Long Barn is beautifully presented, fabulously equipped, and a wonderfully comfortable place to stay.
The bedrooms are all ensuite, the lounge and dining room really spacious and the outside area is perfect. All made it easy to gather together but still have privacy when needed.
Ian & Jackie have thought of absolutely everything you might need to enjoy your stay, from 2 dishwashers to deal with the number of guests, to fluffy towels and bath robes. Communication was always prompt, the welcome pack was a real treat, and nothing was too much trouble for them.
There’s lots of information about the local area and much more provided. Lots to do for all age groups.
