We’ve been looking back at guest feedback to see what you like about the Long Barn. It helps us to see what guests love as well as look at anything that we can improve on.
From the comments in reviews and in our visitors’ book, these are five things that our guests love:
1. 7 ensuite bedrooms with no short straw room.
There’s no rush to arrive first to avoid ending up with the worst room. All the Long Barns bedrooms are generous doubles, each with it’s own ensuite.
We’ve lost count of the guests who we’ve sent details of where to buy the mattresses, bedding and linen. In fact, we wrote a blog about it here so that the links are there for everyone.
2. Space to spread out in and also come together in.
However much we love our friends and family, it’s good to have your own personal space when you come away. You’ll find there are no queues for bathrooms at the Long Barn as all bedrooms are ensuite.
The bedrooms are spread out over two floors, so you can separate the larks from the owls.
And there are spacious communal areas to eat in and relax in. This means no musical chairs in the living room; there are enough sofas and comfy chairs to seat everyone.
3. A kitchen with everything you will need for a self-catering holiday.
We hate a badly equipped kitchen when we go away. So you’ll find the kitchen packed full of enough crockery, utensils and kit to more than cater for your stay. Along with enough dish washer tabs, cleaning materials, tin foil etc for all.
And we keep adding to it…
4. The location in Appleton le Moors, our beautiful village in North York Moors.
So many of our guests comment on our friendly, welcoming village. From the free roaming sheep to our lovely pub, the Moors Inn. We estimate at least 80% of our guests book a meal at the pub, some go more than once. If you pop in on a Friday evening, you will probably find us both in there. And around 6pm, complimentary sausages and chips arrive on the bar. You’ll just have to be quick before the locals snaffle them all.
5. The welcome hamper, especially the homemade lemon drizzle cake and toasted olive oil granola.
We have so many requests for these recipes that we’ve put them on our web site. The Lemon Drizzle Tray bake is in the top five most viewed Mary Berry recipes on the BBC Good Food web site. Some guests even have asked for an extra jar of granola to take home with them.
Do you agree with our guest’s top five?
