September is here, and itβs a beautiful time to visit the North York Moors. Every year, the North York Moors themes September as a mindful month, and signposts to a host of relaxing activities to do. Travel writers and adventurers Fay and Matt Doyle have written a blog about a 2 day stay in the North York Moors.
We think that this yearβs activities are the best to date with a wide range of very different things to do. Fancy goat yoga? Forgaging? Sound Healing? Or a Minds and Miles Cycle Ride? Take a look at the North York Moors page for a host of mindful activities.
Many of the companies running these activities will be able to run a tailored activity for your group if you stay at the Long Barn. Get in touch with us when you book, and we can help you arrange the perfect activity.
There are also several people we have worked with personally who weβd recommend. Alison, Adventures for the Soul has run yoga sessions and mindful walks for us at the Long Barn. We also recommend Sam for reflexology and Ione for her art workshops.
Taking in nature is also a great way to relax and reset. From September, whales follow shoals of mackerel and herring south down Yorkshireβs coastline. This year there have been record sightings of harbour porpoises, white-beaked dolphins, minke whales and even large humpback whales. Whale watching cruises run from Staithes onΒ Real StaithesβΒ traditional fishing boat βAll My Sonsβ withΒ Yorkshire Coast NatureΒ orΒ Three Sisters Sea Trips.
The last flurry of agricultural and county shows take place in September. If youβve never been to one, they really are a great day out.
The Flowerbelt still has beautiful wild flowers and sunflowers to pick. Come the end of the month, it will be pumpkins all the way on the count down to Halloween.
September is also a great month to explore many of the wonderful walks from the door in Appleton. Weβd especially recommend ones that wander through woodland, as they are spectacular as the leaves start to change.
