We think that the Long Barn is perfect for every generation, and in particular for 3 generations of one family all together. And from guests feedback, it seems that you agree.

There’s plenty of space to spread out in, and space to come together in. Three of the seven ensuite bedrooms split into single beds. And we now have a sofa bed in two of the bedrooms that we can also make up for maximum flexibility.

Activities for Every Age

For little ones, we can provide high chairs, travel cots and crockery. For the larger ones, we’ve found that the table tennis, table football, Cornhole game and board games are perfect. As well as the two PS4 game stations. The West Barn PS4 is especially popular for the younger generation to let off steam in, leaving the Long Barn lounge free for adult relaxation.

We’ve recently had two groups of returning guests who last stayed with us 3 years ago. Both families encompass 3 generations. The last time we saw them all, the grandchildren were little tots. Both mentioned how stress free it was to come away with the extended family, rather than try to host it in one home.

Everyone could more easily pitch in to cook and everyone could fit round one table to enjoy a relaxing meal together.

Exploring the Local Area

There are so many places on our doorstep to entertain from the mini railway at Cedarbarn Farm to more adrenaline-fueled activities at Go Ape in Dalby Forest. And the coast is always just 45 minutes’ drive away to recreate that traditional British bucket and spade holiday. Obviously including fish and chips and a lemon top ice cream.

Our own family

We have an annual gathering every year ourselves in the Long Barn with our growing extended family. This year we had 5 great nieces and nephews stay with us aged between 3 months and eight years. And we saw first-hand how well the Long Barn worked for us all. As well as how popular visits to the hens to collect eggs and walks down the back lane to see the horses, cows, sheep and alpacas were.

Every time our two eldest nieces Ella and Alba heard the clip clop of horses hooves, they raced to the gate to watch them go by. Some of the local riders were kind enough to stop and let the girls give them a pat. And the sheep roaming through the village (as well as the sheep poo!) was a constant entertainment.

Our wonderful Moors Inn took the size and age range of our party in its stride, booking out the whole of the dining room over to us for an early dinner.

It brought home to us yet again, how important making memories like this are for us all.
