We have always loved a good circular walk, especially one with a pub part way round.
By happy serendipity, the Long Barn is well positioned with beautiful walks from the door all which can involve a visit to a pub, café or ice cream shops.
Here is our round up of everything within a 3.5 mile radius of us.
Moors Inn (5 minutes walk) Our lovely local which does great hand pulled ales, delicious food and has a bookable private dining room for 14. Our beer of choice is the Millie George. Bowls of sausages and chips arrive on the bar on a Friday evening.
Blacksmiths Arms, Lastingham (2 miles) Great pub opposite the beautiful village church. Ali, the landlord is also chef and has transformed this pub with some great food options. Great space outside with pizza ovens, covered seating and heating.
Fox and Hounds, Sinnington (3 miles) Pitched at more casual up market dining, this pub has a lovely outside garden with plenty of tables, and heating.
New Inn, Cropton (3 miles) The original landlords have taken on the management of the on-site brewery. Good simple pub food with their own beer served. Brewery tours available.
The Crown, Hutton Le Hole (3.5 miles) Less of a local and more targeted to tourists visiting the village. Standard pub grub.
All the pubs are dog friendly; the Blacksmiths Arms only welcomes dogs outside but does have an attractive covered area outside.
Forge Tea Room (3.5 miles) Gets great reviews online. We’ve not visited it yet because we love the other two options in this village….
Old School House Deli and Bakery (3.5 miles) Great for picnic treats and takeaways. Sarah bakes cakes and breads. Sandwiches made to order. Also available to make special cakes for birthdays etc. We love their brownies and millionaire shortbread.
Shop on the Green (3.5 miles) Our go to place for delicious ice cream, especially when timed with a bike ride. We recommend the salted caramel and blackcurrant/clotted cream.
So, 8 reasons to leave your car parked up at the Long Barn, and strike out on walk from the door. You’ll find maps in the barn for all of these walks through beautiful North York Moors scenery.
The hardest decision you’ll have will be which one to choose.
