The Homestead Kitchen opened in November 2021 and from the start had rave reviews from customers and local food critics. It’s in the middle of the picturesque village of Goathland, serving relaxed fine dining food.

The Homestead is owned by Peter and Cecily; Peter is the chef who cooks the Homesteads sublime food. Cecily is front of house along with managing the restaurants marketing and social media.

Between them, they also juggle raising their young family alongside running a holiday cottage attached to their home and the restaurant. Their energy and passion for their business is inspiring.

We love the Homesteads delicious food and welcoming atmosphere. Our last visit was in December, the drive up to Goathland from Appleton was a winter wonderland as filmed by Jackie .

The menu as ever was seasonal and delicious. We are amazed that we managed these photos before we wolfed down each plate. The vegetarian courses which Jackie often goes for are always yummy (Cecily is vegetarian) The staff are lovely and the restaurant has a stylish relaxed feel to it.

The views out over the moor are stunning; if you can, ask for a table at the window. From there, you can also admire their raised beds where they grow many of their own vegetables and herbs.

Keep an eye on the Homestead Kitchens social media. In 2023 they are organising a few different events from a Saturday Brunch to a Social Walk and Lunch.

They also rent out a holiday cottage next door. It’s available both as a traditional holiday rental, but also as a one night dinner, bed and breakfast package.

And if you are staying at the Long Barn, contact Cecily (with plenty of notice) and she will organise a table for up to 14 people. You won’t regret it!
