If you’re planning a yoga or wellness retreat in the North York Moors, finding the right venue is often the hardest part. You need a space that works for both practice and relaxation, with comfortable accommodation and a setting that helps people switch off.
At the Long Barn, everything is in one place. It’s well suited to small group retreats, with a dedicated space for sessions, flexible accommodation, and the kind of surroundings that allow people to slow down without needing a packed schedule.
A Space Designed for Practice

The West Barn sits just across the courtyard from the main house and works well as a dedicated space for yoga and wellness sessions.
It can be completely cleared, giving you a simple, open space to practise. There’s underfloor heating, so it stays comfortable year round, and plenty of natural light throughout the day. The walls are clean and uncluttered, which makes it easy to set the space up in a way that suits your retreat.
It’s also separate from the main living space, so sessions can run without interruption, while others in the group can relax elsewhere.
A Place That Works for Groups

The Long Barn sleeps up to 14 guests across seven en-suite bedrooms.
Each room is similar in size and style, so there’s no awkwardness around who gets which room. It makes organising a group much simpler, particularly for retreat hosts.
For added flexibility, three of the bedrooms can be set up as twin rooms, and we can also make up two sofa beds on request. This allows you to tailor the sleeping arrangements to suit your group.
There’s also plenty of shared space. A large living room, a separate dining area, and the courtyard all give people options. Some will want to chat, others will take time out between sessions. The layout allows that to happen naturally.
“The barn is ideal for our yoga retreats. It is so spacious and the heated floor is a huge bonus”
Time Outside the Sessions

One of the things guests often comment on is how easy it is to step outside and just walk.
There are footpaths and bridleways from the door, so you don’t need to drive anywhere. The surrounding countryside gives you space to clear your head, whether that’s a short walk between sessions or a longer route as part of the retreat.
In the evenings, the dark skies here are something people don’t always expect, but often remember.
Eating Well, Together

Food is often a big part of a retreat, and the Long Barn is set up to make that easy.
The kitchen is well equipped for self-catering, whether you’re cooking as a group or bringing in a private chef. We’re also happy to recommend trusted local caterers who are used to working with groups at the barn.
The large dining table works well for shared meals, which tend to become a natural part of the experience. In warmer months, the courtyard offers another space to sit and eat outside.
“The rooms are all beautiful and, with everyone having their own en suite, there really is no short straw.”
Simple to Plan, Easy to Host
Retreats here tend to be small and personal, and that’s part of the appeal.
You have exclusive use of both the Long Barn and the West Barn, so you can shape the retreat in your own way. Some hosts keep things structured, others prefer a looser approach with time built in to rest and explore.
If you’re looking to offer something extra, we can also recommend local therapists, including reflexology and massage, so guests can build that into their stay if they wish.
A Setting That Works

We’ve welcomed a number of yoga and wellness groups over time, many of whom return.
It’s not a formal retreat centre, and that’s often why it works so well. It feels more relaxed, more private, and easier to make your own.
If you’re planning a yoga or wellness retreat in the North York Moors, it’s a place that brings everything together in a simple, practical way.
