Planning a group getaway? We know the struggle! This week, we’ve been searching for the perfect holiday cottage for our annual college reunion, and it’s been a challenge. Finding a place with the right number of bedrooms and bathrooms is just the beginning. Then comes the detective work. Are the beds doubles or singles? What’s the bedroom layout really like?
Too many promising options have fallen short, revealing that dreaded “last bedroom” – a tiny box room with bunk beds. Let’s be honest, at our age, bunk beds are a deal-breaker…
Comfort and communal space are also essential. We want to relax and chat together, not just around the dining table, but also in the living room (ideally by a roaring fire)It’s surprising how few places offer enough seating for everyone.
And don’t even get us started on the quest for good walks from the doorstep and a charming local pub within walking distance. It feels like searching for the Holy Grail!
This experience has highlighted two things to us:
1. The stress and time involved in finding the right large holiday rental
2. Just how special The Long Barn is, with its seven double ensuite bedrooms and ample communal space for everyone to relax together. Not to mention a fantastic local pub nearby, and beautiful walks right from the door in the fabulous North York Moors.
It’s also made us think about how we can make the booking process as easy as possible for our potential guests. We want you to have all the information you need upfront.
So, if you’re considering The Long Barn for your next group getaway, we can assure you: there are no short straw bedrooms here! We understand the importance of comfortable and spacious accommodations for everyone in your party.
To help you plan your stay, we’ve addressed frequently asked questions about our bedroom layout here. We’ve also put together a blog with five helpful tips for booking a large holiday cottage.
As for our own search? We’ve compromised slightly on the number of bathrooms. And the pub within walking distance. But we have booked a lovely place in the Lake District.
And it’s made us even more appreciative of what The Long Barn offers.
